Calling All Project Teams and Manufacturers!
Take part in a deep exploration of the processes and techniques for selecting, specifying, and marketing materials for Living Buildings. This Summit provides important opportunities for those selecting, specifying and installing materials and those manufacturing and marketing materials to share ideas and experiences, better understand each other’s working realities, motivations, and needs, and collectively further the discussion of product transparency and sustainability.
- This Summit will begin with three project teams sharing their experiences of selecting materials and working with manufacturers to meet the Materials Petal Imperatives.
- Next, a materials specifier and manufacturer will review the process for vetting complex products and applying materials exceptions.
- Then Institute Staff will define best practices, learned from a variety of successful Living Building Challenge (LBC) projects, for specifying LBC compliant products as well as review sample specification language that can be applied by project teams and manufacturers alike.
With this solid foundation and newfound understanding, marketing and other professionals will facilitate an open forum for product specifiers and manufacturers to discuss effective messaging and marketing techniques to better communicate product attributes and understand how a product will meet the specified performance requirements, including Materials Petal compliance.
This session will be a rich combination of presentation, discussion, and hands-on activities with emphasis placed on opportunities to learn from each other through interaction and collaboration. Summit participants will focus on the details of implementing the Materials Petal and continue the collaboration between designers, specifiers, and product manufactures.
